‘How does the ocean work?’ This is the fundamental question that motivates our research, mixing together biology, chemistry, physics and geology to address the ecological and biogeochemical processes that underpin our healthy and productive seas and oceans. We are based at the Lyell Centre for Earth and Marine Science, one of Heriot-Watts global research institutes. Lyell Centre research focuses on global challenges confronting the planet, nature and people.
